SUSAN JOHNSON is in entering her ninth year of leading as Head of School at First Baptist Academy of Jacksonville, FL. Prior to that, she served in other leadership roles with the academy, including serving on the initial Steering Committee that founded the school. During her service, the school has received its initial and renewal accreditation with AdvancEd and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI); grown from 202 students in 2010 to more than 360 in 2020; and expanded to include high school grade levels. Susan holds a Masters of Educational Leadership (Nova Southeastern University, 2011) and Bachelors of Communications (University of North Florida,1997).
Mrs. Johnson currently serves as a Commissioner for Florida’s Region of ACSI and has led and/or served on numerous accreditation teams throughout the state. Her passion for Christian Education is deep-rooted with the understanding that when the home, church, and school partner together, students are provided a solid foundation and framework that equips the entirety of their beings to be successful in this life and the next.
She is certified with Florida’s Department of Education in Educational Leadership as well as with ACSI as Head of School. In addition, she holds her National Director’s and Childcare Development Associate credentials.
Prior to her career in education, Susan served as Communications Director at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Director of Communications for the Supervisor of Elections Office with the City of Jacksonville, and Public Relations Specialist with the City of Jacksonville.
Susan, and her husband of 22 years, Chad Johnson, are the parents of three Warriors. They worship together at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL, and their children are upper school students at First Baptist Academy.
